I first started reading the series when I was younger. Now that im older & am frequently involved in slaughter horse & other animal rescue I find my self using alternative remedies a lot. The basics of what I have learned & what originally got me interested in alternative remedies & horsemanship came from Heartland. I actually have sticky notes for all the remedies & horsemanship in each book I have no matter how undetailed the mention because I can always look it up later. I do "join up" with every horse I work with & it has worked miracles with even the wildest horses. The stories are always touching & well written especially for kids books. You can really connect with the characters & get what they are going through. Sometimes ive wondered if the things that happen in the series are a bit mature for younger readers, even though thats who the intended audience is, but ive come to realize that a lot of the lessons, stories, & incidents mentioned in the series are something that is better for kids to learn at a younger age, whether its the grief of loosing someone precious to you or the realities of horse abuse & slaughter not to mention how horribly each animal is treated during the entire hellish process. In my opinion the sooner kids understand how awfully these animals are treated the better. We need more people that can understand & show compassion which is something I fear my generation (not mention a few others)strongly lacks. I love these stories & even though im older now I find my self reading them over & over again. The bad thing is that its so hard to find them new now a days & they arent currently in E-book form. Some books should never go out of print...

Love this series.
These books and a few others were gifts to my granddaughters who are tweens. They both read them quickly and loved them. The process went smoothly and the books were in good condition. I haven't seen the books because they live in FL and I live in CT, but they had no complaints.
I found the first books at a garage sale and I just loved them so had to order the following books in the series. I have read 7 of them now and love everyone. Can't wait to order the rest of them. I love horses and helping abused or neglected horses is my thing
